Ozjan Yeshar is a writer, researcher, and novelist whose essays have reached hundreds of thousands of readers across the Arab world. Born in Alexandria, Egypt, in 1962, he studied electrical engineering at the University of Houston, graduating in 1985, and went on to build a career spanning more than three decades in Saudi Arabia's industrial heartland, leading logistics projects in Jubail Industrial City and serving as general manager of the Arab United Trading & Maintenance Company from 2005 to 2016.
But the engineer's life was always only half the story. Through every year of it ran another current: a camera, a notebook, and an unhurried habit of paying attention. Since 2007 he has published nearly three hundred essays and readings on Al-Hewar Al-Mutamaddin, one of the Arab world's most established open platforms for thought, writing that moves freely between psychology and philosophy, literary criticism and political analysis, close readings of world literature and reflections on the quiet intelligence of the natural world.
His writing carries a distinctive signature: the patience of a photographer who learned to see before he learned to say. A member of the international USEFILM photographers' community, his lens work, from gardens and forests to the sea he explored as a certified diver, shaped a prose style that begins with observation and arrives, gently, at meaning. That same discipline marked his years as an international taekwondo lecturer and referee: precision, restraint, and respect for the craft.
His screen and script work has earned recognition at international festivals, including honors at the New York Film & Cinematography Awards and the Cannes World Film Festival.
Across every form, essay, story, poem, script, and song, his work returns to one conviction: that a life examined with honesty and tenderness is the only success worth the name. Or, as he wrote himself:
"Inside every small leaf there is a story, around every root there is a hidden world."
